Hi, my name is Gideon Rasmussen. This website is my front porch to the Internet. Much of the content addresses my experience as an cybersecurity leader. This site hosts my portfolio, as well as links to my articles.

I provide program design and cybersecurity assessment services through Virtual CSO LLC (Woman and Veteran Owned).

My Background

Past positions include Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), CISO Advisor, SVP, Risk Control Officer, SVP, eCommerce Security by Design, SVP Program Architecture and Initiations, PCI Compliance Manager, Information Security Officer, Director of Technical Operations and Infrastructure Security Manager. My management background includes responsibility for security throughout an organization, IT operations management and establishment of compliance programs. I have hands-on experience and have become known as a change agent.

My professional career began with the United States Air Force. I was assigned to a secure computer facility at Bolling AFB, DC, supporting the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Outside of my duties as a technologist, I laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, escorted military prisoners and worked part-time as an armed guard at the FBI Academy in Quantico, VA. I have completed the Bataan Memorial Death March four times.

Proud to be Husband of Mary Rasmussen and Father of Kaeli and Hunter Rasmussen. I grew up in Connecticut. Since then, I have lived in Washington DC, Florida, South Carolina and Texas. I currently live in New Braunfels, TX. Outside of work, I enjoy photography, cycling, hiking, weight training, going to the beach, camping, traveling to new places, and RARELY do I turn down a road trip. Most of all, I enjoy the company of friends and family.
